Our workshops and talks are tailor-made for different groups, from industry professionals to school children and older people in residential care. We use our digital platforms and interactive experiences in communities to help connect people across generations, from different backgrounds and with diverse expertise.
Below are some example workshops, but please get in touch to discuss how we can meet your specific needs.
MAYFLY STORYTELLING ACTIVITIES
Initially developed to support children with dyslexia, this workshop encourages participants to explore their imaginations through their senses; to create stories using sounds and images. Using our Mayfly Sound App and Stickers participants work through a variety of exercises to think about how sound can portray atmosphere, location and character and to create a five part story.
Suitable for: School and youth groups - Children age 8 and upwards
Number of participants: 10-15
Length of workshop: Half day, full day or split into 3 weekly sessions
TANGIBLE MEMORIES: MAKE A BOOK
The Tangible Memories App was designed with older people in mind. It allows people to easily record stories that are meaningful to them and their loved ones and turn those stories into interactive memory books. Through our ‘Make A Book’ workshops, we introduce the app and guide participants through the process of making a book. We can also train community group leaders, care home staff and library personal to run their own sessions using our illustrated toolkit.
Suitable for: Older people, Intergenerational groups, Care Home staff, Community group leaders
Number of participants: 10-15
Length of workshop: Half day or weekly
USING TECHNOLOGY TO UNLOCK THE PAST
A presentation and practical hands-on workshop. We will start with a presentation of Stand + Stare projects, sharing some of the technology we use to create our installations and explaining how they work. These will include RFID tags, Bare Conductive Touch Boards and Image Recognition. After Q&A and a few short demos we will move into a practical workshop where participants can play with the technologies and create their own interactive exhibit.
Suitable for: Industry professionals, Academics, Students, General public (age 12+)
