MINDFUL MOMENTS
Home to a range of carefully curated activities
A vending machine that dispenses art activity packs to people in the Maternity Unit at Southmead Hospital, Bristol
We worked with the Fresh Arts team and the University of Bristol project Sensing Spaces of Healthcare to design this vending machine for the Maternity Unit in Southmead Hospital, Bristol. New mums and their families are encouraged to vend a box, which contain creative activities for them to do whilst in hospital. The contents of the boxes change regularly and are designed by different artists.
Mindful Moments was commissioned as part of the University of Bristol and UKRI ‘Sensing Spaces of Healthcare’ project, which rethinks NHS hospitals through a focus on sensory experiences. Mindful Moments is a response to research carried out with staff, patients, and maternity service users at Southmead Hospital. It was developed in collaboration with Quantock and Percy Phillips staff, Fresh Arts, and Maternity Voices Partnership for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
